Kudadoo Maldives Private Island: The Perfect Eco-Friendly Adult Escape?
One of the smaller luxury resorts in the Maldives, Kudadoo uses its size as one of its major advantages. Not only do guests have a private island with only fourteen other residences (all overwater) to themselves, the compact eco-resort is 100% powered solely by the sun.
These credentials have placed the resort on the radar of travelers who care about seclusion and not leaving a huge footprint. It has also led to Kudadoo Maldives private island receiving numerous accolades, including The World’s Best New Luxury Hotel by Luxury Travel Intelligence (2018) and first place in the Sustainable Resort category (2019) at The Hospitality Design Awards.
Designed by renowned Japanese architect Yuji Yamazaki, who was commissioned for The Muraka at Conrad Maldives among other resorts, Kudadoo is not only sustainable, it is also a luxurious zen-inspired retreat.
With this combination of sustainability, luxury, and well-being, we sent several of our luxury travel specialists to stay at the resort and scope it out for our discerning clientele.
A Sanctuary of Amenities That Tread Lightly
Despite its size, Kudadoo Maldives private island does not disappoint with its range of amenities. And if you're someone who prefers to arrive at your destination on foot, you'll be pleased as everything is so close there’s no need for bikes or buggies.
As a leader in sustainable resort design, there's no surprise that the amenities at Kudadoo have little impact on the environment. A paddle tennis court and a diving center are found on one side of the island, with the main overwater building with a fully-equipped gym and second-floor spa on the other.
Sulha spa is a highlight of Kudadoo Maldives private island and one of the places you’ll likely spend most of your time, aside from the ocean. Stunning views, a tranquil atmosphere, and an abundance of treatments from around the world, including the first and only salt chamber in the Maldives, are enough to calm even the most stressed out of minds.
The range of amenities at Kudadoo Maldives private island resort includes:
- World-class spa with sauna, hammam, salt room, and various treatment rooms.
- Private offices available for use by guests
- Large infinity pool
- Fitness center, tennis, beach volleyball, badminton courts, table tennis, billiards, snooker, darts, football
- The island's yacht Bella for dining and island transfers
Experience “Anything, Anywhere, Anytime”
When you stay at Kudadoo Maldives private island, you can choose an all-inclusive package. Everything you want can be provided by the staff anywhere and at any time, including Cuban cigars and exotic Japanese whiskies.
This “anything, anywhere, anytime” experience allows you to try things you never imagined you would—whether it's going on a jet ski safari, learning how to kiteboard, or indulging in a medley of exotic treatments in Sulha spa.
With so many options, your private butler can arrange an itinerary for you based on what you'd like from your island vacation. This could be discovering rare marine life, resetting yourself with a complete physical and mental retreat, or immersing yourself in intimate experiences with your partner.
The all-inclusive resort package at Kudadoo Maldives private island includes activities and experiences such as:
- Unlimited personalized watersports, including dolphin expeditions, visits to turtle airport, paddle boarding, flyboarding, parasailing, jet skiing, and kiteboarding
- Unlimited wellness and spa treatments, including salt therapy, hara bodywork, sound showers, sauna, and steam room
- Unscripted dining, including beach picnics and premium drinks menu
Meticulous Overwater Accommodation & Service
Available for buyouts and individual bookings, Kudadoo’s fifteen residences are all overwater, leaving the island quiet and relatively untouched. They include thirteen 1-bedroom villas and two 2-bedroom villas.
The accommodation options mean you won't find any families on the island and that Kudadoo is the ultimate island for a romantic getaway in the Maldives. In fact, the resort is perfectly suited for honeymoons, anniversaries, and other special occasions as a couple.
Each villa has been designed to ensure the ideal breeze, shade, and unobstructed views. Yuji Yamazaka strategically placed operable full-height windows on opposite walls to allow for a pleasant cross-breeze. He also used overhang roofs, umbrellas, and canopies to ensure at least 50% of the private outdoor decks receive at least five shaded hours during the day.
As part of the resort's all-inclusive package, each villa comes with a designated private butler. The butler is available 24 hours a day and is there to tailor your stay on the island to your preferences.
Each villa at Kudadoo Maldives private island is generously-sized (310-390 SqMt) and features the following:
- 44 SqMt private infinity pool
- Overwater, unobstructed ocean views
- An open living space that extends to the ocean
- Fully automated lights with dimming, an iPad, and energy-efficient cooling system
- State-of-the-art sound system
- Wood from sustainably managed forests
- Handmade furniture
A Dining Experience Without Borders
There are several dining options available for guests at Kudadoo, but there is essentially no limit to where and how you can dine: on the beach, on the private yacht, on the deserted sandy “Dream Island”, or even underwater.
The on-island restaurants are limited to The Retreat, found in the same building as Sulha Spa. However, guests benefit from access to the offerings of the Hurawalhi, including Kashibo, offering Asian street food such as Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese cuisine and a teppanyaki grill, and Cannelli, a buffet-style restaurant offering international cuisine, ocean-side breakfasts, and themed evenings.
Guests at Kudadoo can also make reservations to have dinner at 5.8, Hurawalhi’s underwater restaurant, the world's largest all-glass underwater restaurant that sits 5.8 meters below sea level.
The culinary and dining experience at Kudadoo Maldives private island also includes:
- The owner’s wine cellar with a hand-picked selection of exclusive international wines, not included in the all-inclusive package
- A temperature-controlled room with an array of worldwide delicatessens such as hams and cheeses
- The pool and beach-side Coco bar and Junk Food Kitchen
- The Champagne Pavillion, perfect for canapés and petit fours
