Top Four Summer 2020 European Vacation Destinations For Luxury Travelers
2018 has been a busy year at EliteLyfe Towers. We’ve expanded hugely to include more and more exclusive, emerging, and exotic vacation destinations. As we vet each of the villas, resorts, and products we offer our clients, I’ve had an amazing year of travel. I’ve toured beautiful places and had the chance to personally experience some of the most impressive luxury retreats money can buy.
While old-world Europe can hardly be described as an “emerging destination”, part of my world tour did take in some little-known locations in these ancient countries. I also toured brand-new resorts and ultra-luxurious villas in the world-famous spots.
Of all the wonderful places I visited this year, these four stood out as the best of the best in terms of delivering what I know EliteLyfe clients want out of a luxury vacation. I found first-rate modern facilities and amenities that offered the service standards expected by the modern-day elite traveler.
Are you looking for a little sunshine inspiration? Here are my favorite European destinations for summer 2020 which I found to tick all the boxes for the world’s discerning globetrotters.
Ibiza
Ibiza is a small island paradise in the Mediterranean that offers a refined, cosmopolitan lifestyle coupled with stunning natural beaches and some of the best nightlife in Europe.
The main towns on the island, San Antonio and Ibiza Town, have vibrant club scenes with residences by some of the world’s top DJs and producers. This trance/house culture spills over into the daytime with some of the coolest sunset parties on the planet.
A stark contrast to the world-famous nightclub scene, Ibiza is a blissfully natural paradise, featuring over 11 miles of soft sandy beaches and the alluring turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
The island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, meaning the picturesque brilliant-white villages are protected from development and commercialization. Ibiza is a popular location for yoga and spiritual retreats and, being a Mediterranean island, has a strong sailing culture.
Croatia
Of all the destinations I visited in 2018, Croatia was the biggest surprise. With few expectations, I was blown away by what I found. While it may not be as well known as perhaps Italy or Greece, Croatia is actually one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean.
Croatia has a long coastline on the peaceful Adriatic Sea which it shares with Italy. The country has stunning historic cities with a rich cultural heritage. What makes Croatia really special is the pure, untouched nature, and how easily accessible it is.
All kinds of water sports are popular in Croatia, particularly sailing. The calm waters and warm sunshine create the perfect conditions for a day at sea, with plenty of quaint harbor towns along the coast to explore, including my favorite, scenic Dubrovnik.
Greece
Greece is a country that doesn’t need much of an introduction. It is known the world over for its beautiful natural beaches, precious islands, and the incredible culture and history of one of the leading civilizations of the ancient world.
Most modern-day travelers might not know that, in recent years, Greece has wholeheartedly embraced the concepts of luxury travel to present some of the most outstanding villas and resorts in the Mediterranean.
While I’ll always love the islands, particularly Santorini and Mykonos, my tour of mainland Greece opened up another side of the country that I’d not experienced before. I found consistently impressive nature, state-of-the-art facilities and service, and marvelous historical sites.
Italy
Italy has been one of my favorite European countries for many years. Having been to a lot of the major cities and had the opportunity to tour some of Tuscany, it’s a place that has always left me with a sense of satisfaction from an authentic travel experience. It also always leaves me with the desire to go back and discover more…
This year, I had the opportunity to tour some of the luxury properties available for rent along the Amalfi Coast, around the Sorrento peninsula, and in the Bay of Naples. The locations are truly magical and are perfect for sailing trips. However, the villas I toured are what made Italy one of my top four recommendations for summer 2020.
While some luxury properties try to recreate an old-world feel, here it is the real thing. Italy hosts some of the most impressive, palatial oceanfront residences that I’ve ever experienced. Truly grandiose residences are interwoven into the countryside and often enjoy huge private estate grounds with century-old gardens. It feels like stepping back into another time…
