Aman Kyoto

Aman Kyoto represents the fruition of a beautiful landscape first conceived as the garden of a textile museum. Situated in a secret garden at the foothills of the iconic Hidari Daimonji mountain, in Kyoto’s northern Takagamine district, the resort is within walking distance of the Kinkaku-ji golden temple. This retreat is formed by a series of minimalist pavilions that pay homage to the traditional Japanese ryokan aesthetic, allowing the beauty of nature to take center stage through timber structures and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the surrounding forest.
The accommodation is spread across six guest pavilions housing 26 suites, designed with a minimalist elegance where every detail has been carefully considered. The rooms utilize a natural palette of cedar wood, stone, and washi paper, offering light-filled spaces that invite contemplation. Each suite features a large hinoki wood deep-soak bathtub, providing a private ritual bathing experience with views of the forest canopy or the moss-covered gardens.
Wellness and gastronomy are interwoven with the natural environment to offer total renewal. The Aman Spa makes use of local thermal springs, offering natural onsen bathing facilities that utilize mineral-rich spring water. The culinary journey takes place at The Living Pavilion by Aman, where Kyoto-style and international cuisine are served in a space featuring a central fireplace and an outdoor terrace. For a more intimate experience, Taka-an pays tribute to the district's artistic heritage, serving kaiseki cuisine that celebrates the seasonality of local ingredients. From Zen meditations guided by resident monks to walks along moss-covered stone paths, Aman Kyoto is a sanctuary of peace and a deep immersion into the cultural soul of Japan.
