Menorca: 8 Days - The Quiet Island

Menorca is the Balearics at their most unhurried. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Georgian harbors and prehistoric stone, hidden coves reached only by sea, ancient trails, working wineries, and beaches far from the crowds, it rewards those who come to slow down rather than to be seen. Based in your own villa and with a classic open-air Mehari at your disposal, this eight-day escape moves at the island's own gentle rhythm, balancing curated experiences with the luxury of empty time.

DAY ONE: ARRIVAL & THE ISLAND'S RHYTHM

A private driver is waiting at Mahon Airport to carry you directly to your villa, where a classic Mehari awaits, yours throughout the stay for open-air drives along the coast. The first day is left completely open to settle into the island's quiet pace. Spend the afternoon unpacking, walking the grounds, and taking a first swim in the pool. Dinner is a simple, relaxed affair at the villa, with no travel and no timeline.

DAY TWO: MAHON & ART ON THE WATER

The morning is spent in Mahon, walking the pedestrianized streets to take in the British-influenced Georgian architecture and the deep natural harbor, with a stop at a traditional workshop to be measured and fitted for a custom pair of Menorcan avarcas. In the afternoon, a short double-decker shuttle boat carries you across the harbor to the Hauser & Wirth gallery on Illa del Rei, its contemporary exhibitions set among restored island buildings, before you return to the city for lunch at the local fish market. In the evening, you dine at Pan y Vino in the nearby hamlet of Torret, a two-hundred-year-old country estate serving a refined blend of Mediterranean and French-influenced cuisine.

DAY THREE: THE BIOSPHERE & THE VINES

This morning you walk the trails of S'Albufera des Grau, the nature park at the heart of Menorca's Biosphere Reserve, an immersion in the island's wetlands, native birdlife, and diverse ecosystems far from the coastal hubs. In the afternoon, head south to Bodegas Binifadet to tour the working winery before an unhurried lunch beneath the vines, its local dishes paired with the estate's own vintages. The evening is left open for a slow night by the pool.

DAY FOUR: HIDDEN COVES BY LLAUT

The day begins aboard a traditional Menorcan llaut for a private journey along the coast, navigating toward secluded coves such as Macarella and Macarelleta, the most beautiful of them reachable only by sea, and dropping anchor in clear water. A light, locally sourced brunch is served on deck, and the remaining hours are yours to swim or read in the sun before returning to port. You are back at the villa by late afternoon, the evening left intentionally blank for rest and a relaxed dinner at your own pace.

DAY FIVE: STILLNESS & A SUNSET DRIVE

A full day simply to exist in the space: to read, to swim, or to wander the surrounding countryside without watching the clock. In the late evening, take your Mehari for a private sunset drive to the southernmost tip of the island, where you can enjoy quiet drinks looking out over the water as the sun drops below the horizon, far from the crowds, before returning home for a light dinner.

DAY SIX: THE INTERIOR & A FISHING VILLAGE

This morning brings a private guided 4x4 tour deep into Menorca's Biosphere Reserve, tracing the island's rich talaiotic heritage, its historic sandstone quarries, and the must-see summit of Monte Toro, the highest point on the island, with views that reach across the whole of the coastline. The day winds down by the sea with a tabla de quesos and a cold beer, before a final stop at a working cheese farm and the vast open pastures beyond, with access granted to areas well off the usual path. It is a true guided journey, rich in every sense.

DAY SEVEN: CIUTADELLA & A STARRED DINNER

Head into nearby Ciutadella, the island's former capital, to walk the narrow, pedestrianized streets of the old town and its fourteenth-century cathedral. The daily market here is the social heart of the city, best visited mid-morning for a coffee, fresh produce, and the local rhythm. In the afternoon, visit the Lithica quarry at Pedreres de s'Hostal, where carved sandstone walls and a sculpted labyrinth offer a striking contrast to the town. Your trip concludes in the evening at Smoix, a Michelin-starred restaurant known for its creative, ingredient-driven menu and understated dining room.

DAY EIGHT: DEPARTURE

A last slow morning at the villa, with a final coffee on the terrace and a swim before your private transfer returns you to Mahon Airport, waiting exactly when needed for a seamless journey home.

ACCOMMODATION
