Mallorca: 8 Days - The Tramuntana & the Sea

Mallorca rewards the traveler who lingers. Beyond the harbors and the headlines lies an island of extraordinary range: the terraced peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana, the medieval heart of Palma, off-the-grid tables reached only by sea, artist villages carved into the mountainside, and inland vineyards where the pace slows to nothing. Based in your own villa and moving at your own rhythm, this eight-day escape balances curated experiences with the greatest luxury of all: unhurried time.

DAY ONE: ARRIVAL & A PRIVATE WELCOME

Your driver is waiting at Palma de Mallorca airport to carry you directly to your villa. There is no agenda beyond settling in. Take your time to unpack, find your way around the grounds, and enjoy a first swim in the pool. In the evening, a private chef arrives to prepare an introductory feast built on local, seasonal ingredients and paired with regional wines, so your first night is spent dining beautifully without ever leaving the house.

DAY TWO: THE TRAMUNTANA COAST BY SEA

The morning begins aboard a private yacht from the picturesque harbor of Port de Soller, cruising the pristine waters of the northwest coast with a Champagne toast and time to swim in quiet coves. For lunch, you drop anchor and arrive by sea at Sa Foradada, a secluded, off-the-grid restaurant carved into the coastal rocks. The kitchen works without electricity, preparing its sought-after paella over an open wood fire. You return to the villa in the late afternoon, the evening left entirely yours to rest by the pool in the cooling sea breeze.

DAY THREE: ANCIENT PATHS TO FORNALUTX

This morning you meet your guide for a hike into the Tramuntana mountains, following centuries-old stone paths through terraced hillsides and mountain villages. Afterward, a well-earned lunch awaits at a traditional restaurant in Alaró, the place to go after a walk, where hearty Mallorcan cooking is served in the hills beneath the Castell d’Alaró. The afternoon is left deliberately open to recover by the pool, and after an active day the evening stays relaxed: a casual dinner at the villa, unhurried and easy.

DAY FOUR: PALMA & A MICHELIN TABLE

A morning in Palma with a private guide, walking the medieval center to La Seu Cathedral and the historic Arab baths before browsing the boutiques along the Paseo del Borne. Lunch is at Adrian Quetglas, the Michelin-starred table on the Paseo Mallorca, where precise Mediterranean cooking is served in a comfortable, bistro-style room. The evening is yours to retreat to the quiet of the villa after a full day in the city.

DAY FIVE: THE ISLAND FROM THE AIR

This morning you board a private helicopter for an aerial view of the island, the flight path tracing the steep peaks and deep valleys of the Serra de Tramuntana. In the afternoon, visit the Fundacio Pilar i Joan Miro to walk the artist's preserved studios and the surrounding sculpture gardens at your own pace. The evening is completely free, whether to read, to swim, or to do nothing at all.

DAY SIX: VINEYARDS & CITY TAPAS

A slow start at the villa: sleep in, arrange a massage, or linger over coffee on the terrace. In the afternoon, travel to the village of Esporles for a private tour of the Es Verger winery, walking the grounds and learning the production process before a guided tasting of its finest selections. In the evening, head into Palma for a lively round of tapas at Bar Bar, a taste of the city’s modern culinary energy.

DAY SEVEN: DEIA & A SEASIDE TABLE

Spend the morning in Deia, wandering the quiet streets of this historic mountain village long known as an enclave for artists, visiting the former home of writer Robert Graves and looking out over the terraced hillsides. From there, follow a scenic path down to the sea at Cala Deia for lunch at Cas Patro March, the celebrated cliffside table perched just above the water, open only for lunch, with a taxi to carry you back up. For your final evening, dinner is at Sebastian, a longstanding favorite set in a converted stable on one of the village’s cobbled lanes, a fitting close to the trip.

DAY EIGHT: DEPARTURE

Your final morning is for a slow wind-down: a last breakfast on the terrace and time to pack at your own pace. When you are ready, your private transfer collects you from the villa for the drive back to Palma de Mallorca airport and your departure.

ACCOMODATION

Villa Mal Pas

A seafront retreat in Alcudia, one of the oldest and most picturesque towns on the island, where traditional Mallorcan architecture meets contemporary design across light-filled, sea-facing interiors. A pool and rooftop terrace, a wine cellar, a cinema, and a full spa of gym, sauna, hammam, and hot tub complete the setting, with daily housekeeping and a continental breakfast served each morning. The still center of the journey: a place to return to after every excursion and to dine on the terrace as the water turns to gold.
